Alex’s Lemonade Stand04/24/2009

One of the things that we hope makes AmazingStation and it’s network of stores stand out is that we donate a percentage of every sale that we receive to charity. The first charity we have chosen to work with is Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand’s mission is to fight childhood cancer. The story behind this non profit is heart warming and impressive. In the year 2000, a 4 year old girl fighting for her life against cancer came up with a simple idea, sell lemonade in her very own lemonade stand and donate the money to help her doctors find a cure for kids with cancer. They setup the stand in their front lawn and for the next 4 years, despite her many health problems she held an annual stand to raise money. So many other people were inspired by her actions and ran similiar stands. Alex died at 8 years old but during that short lifespace she raised over $1,000,000 to fight childhood cancer.

Alex’s efforts are continued by her family and the foundation has raised over $25,000,000 so far to help fight childhood cancer. It’s a very noble effort by an impressive group of people and we hope that we can help make a small difference by sending them a portion of every sale we receive. You can find out more about them at Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

AmazingChildhood is Now Carrying the Learning Tower04/19/2009

Dark Cherry Learning Tower

Pictured to the left is just one of the finishes the very popular Learning Tower comes in. It’s one of the first items we started carrying at AmazingChildhood.com. Typically we are looking for items made in the USA that we can certify as safe and of the highest quality. Well, unfortunately, this item is manufactured in China but in this case we aren’t going to hold it against this particular product line.

Why? Well for a few reasons. First, the Learning Tower is a fairly unique item and as such, we believe it fills a need. Secondly, we met with the company that manufacturers the Learning Tower and we were impressed. The Learning Tower may not be manufacturered here in PA but it not made cheaply either. It’s a very well made item and it certainly passed our quality standards and it is lead free.

The Learning Tower is the ultimate child step stool. It gives your child the freedon and ability to join you at counter height and work with you while you prepare a meal or help you clean up after dinner. My wife uses it when she bakes cookies with my oldest son. It gives our son the freedom to climb up on his own, it gives him a safe and balanced platform that he can’t easily fall off of and it brings him up to the perfect counter height.

The Learning Tower retails for $199.99 but we have it marked down to $189.99 at AmazingChildhood.com. It comes in nine different finishes: Natural, Dark Cherry, Ebony, Soft White, Red, Azure Blue, Royal Blue, Pink and Apple Green. We also sell a variety of accessories that you can buy to expand the playability of the learning tower.

Please take a moment and check out out this new line at The Learning Tower section of our web site. Don’t forget, 5% of every sale on AmazingChildhood.com goes to charity.

Announcing AmazingChildhood.com04/10/2009

AmazingChildhood.com is our first official store under the AmazingStation brand. It’s goal is to sell quality, reliable and SAFE toys at reasonable prices. It’s difficult to find that holy grail that hits all the points you would like it to hit and still be affordable but we do a pretty good job of digging up the best of what is available.

Some of the key elements we look for when selecting a manufacturer are:

  • Where is the product made?
  • What materials are used in the construction?
  • Has it been thoroughly tested for lead and other harmful elements?
  • Was it made with GREEN practices in mind?
  • Have their been any previous recalls or issues with that particular company
  • How closely does the company oversee the manufacturing process?
  • Is the Product FUN!!!!

The list is endless. Our favorite products are products that are made right here in the USA with safety, the environment, reliability, and fun at the forefront of their production process. We are looking for manufacturers who have products that will last and can be enjoyed by multiple generations, toys that can stand up to the abuse that only a 1 year old can dish out day after day.

If you are interested in the childrens toys that we carry, check out our site at AmazingChildhood.com

5% of every sale we make is donated to children’s charities. We split the donation between the USMC’s Toys for Tots Program and Alex’s Lemonade Stand to help fight childhood cancer.

Welcome to AmazingStation.com04/04/2009

Welcome to our blog, this site is the hub of a small but growing network of Ecommerce stores called Amazing Station. We aren’t going to be selling anything on this site, all of the products we sell will be available on our stores but we will be using this blog and this site to tell you about what is going on with our company, our stores and the charities and causes we contribute to.

We strive to be a different kind of company. Sure, we are an Ecommerce business and our hope is to be successful and make a profit but we don’t want to do that selling bad merchandise. Every item we sell, is a product we are proud to carry and truly believe is a good value for the money you are going to spend. We do our best to bring you products that are manufactured in a responsible and ethical manner and will be safe for you and for your family. Additionally, we don’t just want to talk the talk and not back up our ideals with real action so a percentage of the money we receive for every product we sell on our sites goes to charity. The specifics will be clearly posted on each new store we open and will vary depending on the products we are selling.

Hopefully you came to this site for a reason and hopefully you have some interest in what our company is trying to do. Please take a moment to subscribe to our RSS feed before you leave so we can update you and keep you in the loop as we grow.
